01 · Overview

A free image to STL converter built for makers

Turn any picture into a print-ready 3D file in seconds — free, private and right in your browser.

ImageToSTL.online is a free image to STL converter that turns everyday PNG and JPG photos into 3D-printable files without installing software or learning a modeling app. It's built for the exact jobs people search for as png to stl, jpg to stl, logo to stl and photo to stl — drop in a picture, and this image to STL online tool does the rest, with no upload, no account and no file limit.

Searching for an image to STL AI shortcut around Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or Blender? This converter skips the learning curve on both sides. Four fast, deterministic modes — relief, extrude, lithophane and keychain — turn a flat 2D image to STL as a heightmap or silhouette, exactly what logos, portraits and QR codes need, while AI Full 3D reconstructs a complete model from a photo of a real object.

02 · Five ways to convert

One image, five kinds of 3D output

Each mode is tuned for a real job — not a generic converter setting. Every preview below is a live 3D model, spinning right in the page. Pick the one that matches what you want to hold in your hand.

Photo Relief

Brightness becomes height. Turn a portrait, pet photo or artwork into an embossed 3D relief you can print as wall art, a plaque or a stamp.

PortraitsPet photosWall artEmbossed plaques

Logo Extrude

Traces the silhouette of your logo, icon, text or QR code and extrudes it into a clean solid — raised on a base plate or cut out on its own.

Lithophane

Dark pixels become thick, bright pixels become thin. Print it in white PLA, hold it against a lamp and watch the photo appear in glowing detail.

Keychain Maker

Your logo or avatar on a rounded tag, complete with a hanging hole ready for a keyring. The fastest way from image to a gift-ready print.

AI Full 3D

Reconstructs a complete, walk-around 3D model from a single photo — not a flat relief. Best for toys, figures, products and other real objects.

03 · How it works

From image to STL in three steps

No plugins and no upload queue — here's exactly how to convert an image to STL, from a photo on your desktop to a slicer-ready file.

Drop in any image

Drag a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG onto the page — or paste it straight from your clipboard. Transparent PNGs give the cleanest logo results. Nothing is uploaded, so even a folder of photos converts instantly and privately.

Pick a mode & fine-tune

Choose relief, extrude, lithophane or keychain, then drag the sliders. The 3D preview updates instantly so you always know what you'll print. Depth, smoothing and size are all adjustable in real millimeters.

Download & print

Grab the watertight binary STL, open it in your slicer and hit print. Real millimeter dimensions are baked in — no rescaling guesswork. It works the same way in Bambu Studio, Cura, PrusaSlicer or Orca.

05 · FAQ

Questions, answered

Is this image to STL converter really free?
Yes. Every mode — photo relief, logo extrude, lithophane and keychain — is free with no watermarks, no account and no conversion limits. The whole tool runs in your browser, so there are no server costs to pass on to you.
Do you upload or store my images?
No. Your image never leaves your device. All processing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas and WebGL APIs. Once the page has loaded, the converter even works offline.
Which image formats can I convert to STL?
PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, SVG, GIF and BMP all work. A PNG or SVG with a transparent background gives the cleanest result for logos and keychains, while any photo works for reliefs and lithophanes.
What kind of images work best?
High-contrast images with clean silhouettes and simple backgrounds convert best. Logos, icons, QR codes and text are ideal for the extrude and keychain modes. Portraits, pets and landscapes shine in relief and lithophane modes.
What is a lithophane?
A lithophane is a thin 3D printed panel whose thickness varies with the brightness of a photo. Held against a light, the thin areas glow and the image appears. Print in white PLA, 100% infill, standing vertically for the best result.
Is the exported STL watertight and printable?
Yes. The generator builds a closed, manifold mesh with a solid base, walls and bottom, and exports it as a binary STL that slices cleanly in Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Orca and other slicers.
Can I use the STL files commercially?
Yes. The models you generate belong to you, and you can print or sell them freely — just make sure you own the rights to the image you convert.
How do I 3D print a logo keychain from an image?
Choose Keychain mode, drop in your logo, set the hole diameter to around 4 mm and the base to about 2.4 mm, then download the STL. Print it flat on the bed. For a two-color effect, pause the print at the layer where the raised logo starts and swap filament.
Do I need Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or Blender to convert an image to STL?
No. Adobe apps and Blender can build 3D models from images, but they take plugins, learning curves and often a subscription. This converter does the whole 2D image to STL job online — just drop in your file, adjust a few sliders and download a print-ready STL.
Is this an AI image to STL converter?
No AI is involved, and that's deliberate. Free AI image-to-3D generators guess at geometry and often produce noisy meshes that need cleanup. For logos, QR codes, reliefs and lithophanes, a deterministic heightmap or silhouette conversion gives cleaner, predictable, watertight results every time.
Can I print the STL on a Bambu Lab printer or share it on MakerWorld?
Yes. The exported binary STL opens directly in Bambu Studio and slices cleanly for any Bambu Lab printer, as well as Prusa, Creality and other machines. The models you generate are yours, so you're free to upload them to MakerWorld, Printables or Thingiverse.

06 · About the tool

A focused image to STL converter for 3D printing

Most "img to STL" tools promise to turn any photo into a full 3D model — and then hand you a noisy mesh you can't print. This free online image to STL converter takes the honest route: STL files store shape, not color, so the best way to convert a 2D image to STL is to treat it as a heightmap or a silhouette. That's exactly what makers actually search for when they type png to stl, jpg to stl, logo to stl or photo to stl: a keychain, a lithophane, an embossed relief or a clean extruded logo.

It's also why this tool skips the AI route. AI image-to-3D generators are impressive for characters and props, but for flat artwork they hallucinate geometry — and Reddit threads on r/3Dprinting and r/functionalprint keep reaching the same conclusion: for logos and photos, a deterministic heightmap conversion beats an AI guess. You don't need Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or Blender either; the whole pipeline runs here in the page, with nothing to install and no subscription.

Because the conversion happens entirely in your browser, there's no file-size upsell and no privacy trade-off. The mesh generator produces closed, watertight geometry with real millimeter dimensions, a configurable base thickness and smoothing — so what you see in the live 3D preview is exactly what your slicer receives, whether that's Bambu Studio, Cura, PrusaSlicer or Orca. The STL is yours to keep, print and share on MakerWorld or Printables.

Whether you're converting a company logo into a badge, a pet portrait into a relief, a family photo into a lithophane or a QR code into a scannable plaque, you can go from image to printable STL in under a minute — free, offline-capable and with no account required.
